The State of Charge (SOC) of a battery pack is largely calculated by Coulomb Counting (integrating current flow). However, this method is not perfect as there will always be a small error percent and it does not account for degraded Pack Health and capacity due to aging.
SOC drift uses multiple different voltage points (typically on the upper and lower curve of the battery voltage ranges) to estimate the actual State of Charge. The SOC can then be corrected (drifted) based on the estimated State of Charge.
