State of charge (sometimes referred to as Status of Charge) is a term used to describe how much energy remains in a given battery. This percentage (typically a value from 0 to 100%) is very similar to what a fuel-tank gauge might look like for a battery.
A higher SOC% indicates more energy is stored in the battery whereas a lower SOC% indicates less energy is stored in the battery.
